April 2026 Update

Happy May!
I hope you have had a wonderful month, and are enjoying as the weather slides into summer. This is a smaller one this month, just a busy few months, but I do want to get this out for my records.
Website Thoughts and Updates
The website has continued to be a bit stagnant while I focused on other aspects of my life. I am looking into a slight update to the style. I'm feeling a bit off about how pages are laid out and have been toying with that. Something a bit more modern. You'll see more about this when I implement it.
Blog Posts of the Month
This month we put out the update for March and nothing else other than that.

Current Projects
Small Combat
This month I did do a lot more work on my Small Combat program. I've implemented a working line of sight/vision system, handled Platoon/Squad data creation/handling for the game, and added basic combat functionality.

What I've Been Reading
To Infinity and Beyond: A Journey of Cosmic Discovery
by Neil deGrasse Tyson, Lindsey Nyx Walker
I've continued plugging away at "To Infinity and Beyond: A Journey of Cosmic Discovery" by Neil deGrasse Tyson, Lindsey Nyx Walker. Its been a great read that keeps expanding on what was written before. It truly makes you feel like your are exploring from the earth to the stars.
What I've Been Playing
This month was a hodge podge of a bunch of games that I ended up dropping in one way or another. I started to feel a bit stagnant on them, so I dropped everything for right now and started God of War PS4. Just needed a change from the rest of them.
The hour total was 16.2 hours in total.
- Esoteric Ebb - 5.6 Hours - Dropped
- Severed Steel - 1.7 Hours - Dropped
- World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic - Aderessia Draenei Paladin (Lv 9-12) - 3 Hours - Dropped
- Company of Heroes - 2.4 Hours - Dropped
- Squad - 0.5 Hours - Dropped
- God of War - 3 Hours - New
Life
The two main things that have happened this month are I went to a safari over the Napa area with my parents and started going to Sacramento Dev Collective events. Both very fun things.
The safari was with Safari West and they have a little bit of everything. Great animals, great tours, great guides, beautiful scenery. What more could you want. I can highly recommend it.
With the Sacramento Developers Collective I went to two different events. The first was the Progressive Game Jam. A progressive game jam is one where you meet up over and over again in order to complete a larger project. Either alone or with others. I ended up showing up to the last one in the series. It was a blast to talk with them and see what everyone was working on and look forward to the next progression starting up again in August.
The second event with the Sacramento Developers Collective was the Crocker Art Museum's Game Night. SDC teamed up with the Crocker to showcase some of their projects at the same time as their normal board game night. It was a fun time and cool to see what everyone created.
Looking Ahead to May
In the month of May I've started some new projects and experiments that I can't wait to share with you.
Hope you have a wonderful month and see you next time.
