October 2025 Update

by Bobby Smith - Written on November 5, 2025

Happy Wednesday!

October has come and gone, and with it, a lot of progress on various projects. Here's a quick rundown of what I've been working on and what I did during the month of October.

Project Highlights

This month has been mainly focused around finding a better way to plan out and track my projects. I've been experimenting with various methods to improve productivity and organization. Mainly I've started creating more detailed roadmaps for each project and working within Obsidian to keep track of tasks and ideas.

I have a blog post in the works for the project I used to test out my new method of planning and implementing projects. In that I'll go over my planning process and organization of ideas. Stay tuned for that!

Website Thoughts and Updates

I've been thinking a lot about my website and how unweildy it was getting folder/file wise. So I took some time to reorganize things a bit. I've moved all blog posts into their own folder structure based on year and month. This should make it easier to manage and find posts in the future as the number of posts continues to grow. I've also updated some of the styling and layout to improve readability and navigation. It's a little simpler and a little cleaner, but I think it will make for a better experience overall.

What I've been Playing

As of October, I've been focuing on limiting the options I have in order to give me a more focused experience with the games I play. I've decided to limit myself to just 5 games a month. This has helped me to really dive into each game and enjoy them more fully without feeling overwhelmed by a large backlog or the infinite possibilities of what to play next.

Games I Played in October

  • Battlefield 6
  • Costume Quest
  • Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
  • Hearts of Iron IV
  • Super Mario Galaxy

Battlefield 6 - 4.3 Hours Played

I enjoyed my time with Battlefield 6 so far. The multiplayer experience has been a fun one. It brings me back to the days of playing Battlefield 2 and 3 with friends. The maps are well designed, if a bit small, but the overall gameplay is solid. Looking forward to seeing how the game evolves with future updates.

Costume Quest - 5.8 Hours Played

This is a fun little game that I picked up due to wanting something to fit the holiday spirit. I did end up finishing this one. The art style is charming, and the gameplay is light-hearted and enjoyable. It isn't that deep and the gameplay got a bit stale after a while, but overall a fun experience. It's a great game to play with kids or just to get into the Halloween mood.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora - 1.3 Hours Played

I have to admit, I was a bit underwhelmed by this game. The graphics are stunning, and the world of Pandora is beautifully realized. However, the gameplay felt a bit lackluster and repetitive. I found myself struggling to stay engaged with the missions and overall story. I decided to drop it once the month was over. I could see coming back once the next movie releases and I get pulled back into the world of Pandora once more.

Hearts of Iron IV - 3.1 Hours Played

Hearts of Iron IV has been a blast getting back into. Its been a few years since I have booted it up so I decided to dive back in by doing the tutorial playing as Italy. I disabled all expansions except the ones that I got upon release to start fresh. The game has a steep learning curve but once you get the hang of it, it is incredibly rewarding. I look forward to playing more and trying out different nations and strategies.

Super Mario Galaxy - 4 Hours Played

This is my first time playing Super Mario Galaxy and I have to say, it lives up to the hype. The level design is creative and the gravity mechanics add a unique twist to the platforming genre. I've only just started but I'm already hooked. The one thing that does get a bit confusing is the camera controls and cursor movement, but overall a fantastic experience. It's a joy to play and I can't wait to see what other surprises the game has in store for me.
